Brief History
of GCNP
GCNP was officially launched at the Philippine Marketing Association’s (PMA) 47th National Marketing Conference on July 29, 2016, with the founding members – Ayala Corporation, Land Bank Philippines, Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc., Nestle Philippines, Manila Doctors Hospital and PMA – signing the Letter of Collaboration.

Melissa V. Vergel de Dios is the First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc., leading the Group’s sustainability journey since November 2021. As head of the Corporate Sustainability Office, she drives ESG integration across the organization. Under her leadership, PLDT has strengthened its global ESG standing, including inclusion in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook in 2025 and 2026.

Apple is Globe Telecom’s Head for Sustainability and Social Responsibility. Her 18-year tenure in the company started with managing Corporate Social Responsibility programs and has evolved to leading the company’s ESG strategies, policies, programs, and corporate sustainability reporting. She has been instrumental in institutionalizing Globe’s commitment to the UN Global Compact since 2019, steering the company’s alignment with the Race to Zero campaign and the operationalization of its SBTi-verified Net-Zero pathway.

Major General Restituto F. Padilla Jr. is a recognized military-diplomat and strategic thinker from the Philippine Air Force, with a distinguished career as a combat pilot, chief planner, and strategist. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management. After retiring from the military, he joined the PTC Group as Executive Director for Corporate Public Policy, Risks, and Sustainability, leading efforts to build safe, resilient, and sustainable business enterprises.

Sharon Jean Gonzales-Gulmatico is the CEO and Chief, SDG Investments at Morination

Marketing and the UN SDG SME Awards in 2022 and 2023. Sharon led the People Pillar and is
a member of the UNGC CFO Coalition for the SDGs.
