The 2nd SDG Awards was concluded on the 22nd of November during the Global Compact Network Philippines 4th Sustainability Summit. The Awards have four categories which are: Outstanding Contribution to People, Outstanding Contribution to Planet; Outstanding Contribution to Prosperity, and the Outstanding MSME.

The Global Compact Network Philippines’ SDG Awards aim to seek the country’s best in sustainable development and open for business entities who have been active, fully paid member of the GCNP; and who have been pursuing the 10 Principles of the UN Global Compact. The winners of the 2nd SDG Awards are:

The Outstanding contribution to People’s health, sustainable food systems, supported the MSME recovery and resilience went to Nestle Philippines for its program: A force for good . A force for good in Diversity is rooted in the core values of Respect, Diversity and Inclusion, and is considered as an integral driving force of the purpose of Nestle. Supporting SDGs 3 (Good health and well-being) , SDG 4 (Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 8 (Decent work and economic growth), the Force for Good program achieved outcomes on gender balance, youth development, the LGBTQ+ community. health and well-being of NEstle’s personnel, and most especially the coffee farming communities.

Nestlé Philippines’ Kasambuhay ng Kalikasan also won the Outstanding Contribution to Planet Category. Kasambuhay ng Kalikasan are capacity building and educational modules and training on climate change, sustainability, solid waste management for high school, college students, government employees and communities. The program also involved local government units against plastic neutrality which diverted thousands of plastics from the ocean. In connection, Nestle also as Plastic Drop PH, An online platform to identify plastic collection points across the country. This app identifies plastic drop off points and plastic collection points.

The Outstanding Contribution to Prosperity goes to Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Limited Philippines Branch for the Davao City HIGH PRIORITY BUS SYSTEM (HPBS). Davao HPBS is a city-wide modern bus system that has inclusive and safe design principles in developing infrastructure; advances human rights in accessing safe and high-quality public transport, and adopts emissions-compliant buses and battery electric buses to replace standard jeepneys. Depots and terminals are designed with solar panel installations to support building power requirements. The project directly supports SDG 11, creating sustainable cities and communities.

And last but not the least SDG Awards for Outstanding MSMEs goes to Morination Agricultural Products. Morination operates the Agriculture to Buyers’ model across multiple commodity chains for its United Nations Supply and Delivery projects. The company engages with local impact enterprises in its ecosystem as their innovation, local know-how, and presence are crucial in the company’s value chain. To date, Morination was able to increase engage with small shareholder farmers and fisherfolks from 500 SFFS to 15,000 SFFS annually; achieved 100% increase in farmer incomes after 9 months leading to average annualized income improvements; 0% food wastage for farmers in Morination’s ecosystem, and engagement of 90% women in fair and sustainable trade and commerce.
